Compensation Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with experience. The minimum, median, and maximum salary range for this position is $58,504, $78,074, and $97,644 respectively.

ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND

National Housing Trust (NHT) has been dedicated to creating and preserving affordable housing for over 30 years. Our mission is to create and preserve affordable homes to provide opportunity, advance racial equity, reduce economic disparities, and strengthen community resilience through practice and policy.

 

NHT has a staff of 36 across five program areas – policy innovation, lending, real estate development, community outreach and impact, and energy solutions. Our hallmark is our cross-functional, integrated approach to innovating, demonstrating, and amplifying solutions to the affordable housing crisis in the U.S.

 

POSITION

Since 2014, National Housing Trust’s nationally recognized solar program has partnered with affordable housing owner portfolios across the country and installed more than 13MW of renewable energy projects. NHT’s Solar Asset Manager will play an essential role in increasing the value and performance of our solar business. This position will support the solar business by assisting in all administrative, financial, capital and operations of the portfolio.  This is an opportunity to join a fast paced, entrepreneurial organization that develops, owns, and operates solar assets and affordable housing.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage invoicing and accounts receivable for Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with properties.
  • Manage contracts and sales for Solar Renewable Energy Credits (SRECs) generated by NHT solar assets.
  • Review and approve expenses for solar projects.
  • Oversee third-party relationships with Operations and Maintenance providers.
  • Analyze and report on solar production and performance, identifying trends across project inputs and key performance indicators.
  • Manage investor and lender reporting, tax returns, insurance renewals, and corporate registrations.
  • Execute financial functions including, but not limited to annual audits, project tax returns, cash flow projections, invoicing, member distributions, loan and equity payments, balance sheets and income statements, and construction accounting.
  • Be a point of contact for property managers to address maintenance concerns, reporting needs, and other issues as they arise.

This is an extraordinary opportunity for a committed leader with at least 3 years of experience. Candidates will ideally have experience in energy efficiency or nonprofit affordable housing. Other qualifications include:

 

  • Commitment to NHT’s mission, including a deep dedication to assisting low-income families create and access opportunities to thrive;
  • Knowledge of solar energy and community solar projects;
  • Familiarity with basic accounting principles;
  • Ability to stay organized and manage many different projects at once;
  • Strong computer aptitude skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Programs;
  • Detail-oriented, entrepreneurial self-starter who relishes multitasking;
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communications skills, including both verbal and written skills;
  • Excellent planning and organization skills;
  • Ability to integrate thoroughness and attention to details with a big picture, strategic vision.
  • Resourcefulness, with the ability to deliver results in an entrepreneurial, dynamic environment;
  • Experience working with diverse and low-income populations;
  • Collaborative spirit and positive attitude (a good sense of humor is a plus); and
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
